The New Year Begins!

by Kasey Romohr and Mason Foxvog

August 17, 2007

The start of the new school year came with a lot of excitement and a new theme given to us by Principal Mr. Ruhl, “Take Part. Get set for life.” Mr. Ruhl attended a leadership conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he learned our new motto and theme for the year. There were many changes in staff with two new administrators and seven new teachers that joined our Centennial family.

To start the new year all of the students met in the gym for an assembly held by Mr. Ruhl. During this assembly Mr. Ruhl addressed the Centennial student body by welcoming them back and informing them of the new rule changes. Also, welcoming back the Centennial students was the new superintendent Mr.Tim DeWaard. Mr. DeWaard brings new life to Centennial and has a positive outlook and high expectations for the year. His thought of the day was, “Get involved and try new things.” Find a niche. He feels that if students get more involved in extra curricular activities the students will have more pride in the Centennial family.

The returning teachers also had a very positive outlook on the year. Asking Mr. Buss about his first day back for the 2007-2008 school year, he said, “ The day was like my new carpet, soft and springing off to a new start. Walking on air.”

We are all anticipating a great year for the Centennial family who is off to a great start!
